Miniaturized sensor technology delivering best-in-class performance that achieves our customers’ goals – it is what we do best. In the age of COVID-19, we are working hard to give medical teams, and even the manufacturers of consumer devices, reliable sensor technology, that can be used to detect possible symptoms of the virus. The new ams AS6221 is a complete temperature system, achieving a measurement accuracy of ±0.09°C, outperforming competitive digital temperature sensor chips and bringing the capability to remotely monitor this vital sign to small consumer products such as earbuds, smart watches and wristbands, as well as to medical devices such as patches and oximeters.

This development is an extension of ams’ position in the market for medical diagnostic technology, alongside products such as the ams sensor solution AS7341L used to create point-of-care rapid tests for Covid-19, optical sensors used in X-ray scanners, and the NanEye family of image sensors for endoscopy.
